The Need for Collaborative Models

The Program Provides:
🌱 Tangible Impact: 1 million trees planted in the first phase will sequester an estimated 625,000 tons of CO₂ over 25 years, making a measurable contribution to climate mitigation.
👩🌾 Community Empowerment: Through financial incentives under the Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) model, the program addresses rural poverty while fostering a sense of environmental stewardship.
What is Cool the Earth Program (CTEP)?
The Cool the Earth Program (CTEP) is a Community-Based Tree Plantation Initiative launched by the Participatory Village Development Program (PVDP), Sindh.
A Climate Change Mitigation Program
CTEP is a massive participatory tree plantation initiative in the villages of Tharparkar, initiated by PVDP. The program will:
🌍 Begin in Tharparkar and expand across Sindh.
🌳 Engage citizens and corporate entities to pledge and sponsor trees.
🤝 Involve the community in watering and nurturing the trees.
🎯 PVDP’s Role:
Manage the program by raising nurseries, training the community, supervising tree plantations, monitoring maintenance, and facilitating cash transfers under the PES model.
🌟 Target: Plant and nurture 1 million trees in 2 years in the Tharparkar region.
